Henk, Terèsa and their five children live and work on this exceptionally beautiful small wine farm on the outskirts of town. Having bought the land, they found the soil and the climate perfect for the production of red grapes and planted the vineyard in 2004. Making Russo wines is a family affair – all the members are involved. Terèsa is the winemaker and administrator, Henk tends to the vineyard and the marketing while the children lend a hand after school and after work during the busy harvest season.
  
 
   
The wine is dedicated to Pierre Rousseau,
who was born in Menars-la-ville, Blois, France. Having fled religious persecution,
he arrived at the Cape in 1688, aged 22.
He was accompanied by his sister, Marie,

and by his future wife, Anne Retif. His only valuable possession was a treasured violin. Pierre and Anne settled at l’Arc d’Orléans
near Franschhoek and Pierre became
one of the first winemakers at the Cape.
